Surviving the OUAT Hiatus

As we all well know, the Once Upon A Time hiatus is here. Based off of previous years, I’m guessing ONCE will return September 25, 2016 with its season six premiere. That’s 117 days. Eeeek! But have no fear folks, it was recently announced that filming begins next month! July seventh if you want to be exact (I know we do). What are we supposed to do in the mean time? I’m glad you asked. Look no further–I have compiled a list of things that may just save you from breaking point this hiatus:

Hiatus Survival Guide

10. Find a book series

You’d be surprised how easy it is to transfer your obsession onto something else. Even if it’s only for a while. It’s especially important to note that some TV shows have taken to coming out with book adaptions or companion series…or vice versa. (i.e. Outlander, Game of Thrones). Check those out too! Don’t write anything off.

9. Start a Blog

Most ONCERS have taken a liking to Tumblr…dare I say even WordPress? If you haven’t signed up yet, it should be on your list of things to do. All I am saying is the amount of GIFs you find of our favorite pirate is well worth it. (Endless scrolling people. ENDLESS.)

How do you think we are surviving? 😉

8. Enjoy the outdoors, it’s Summer time baby!

tumblr_n7iyukeTBM1qlqo4ro1_500You’d be surprised how quickly time flies when you get out of the house. I know that normally we all huddle over our computers for hours at a time, but depending where you live–there could be some awesome activities you’re missing out on! Now is the time to take part in them. Go Kayaking, hiking, or road trip to the beach with friends! (I live in Florida…so maybe find something to do that’s relatable to your area.)

7. Read/Write FanFiction

Now, I may be a little biased, but writing FanFiction (CS smut anyone?) is very therapeutic, and sometimes you just have to write the story you can’t find.

If you’re not a writer, or have zero interest in trying, READ IT. I promise you, it’s probably one of the best things you could do for yourself on hiatus.

I’ll compile a list of my fav’s for you guys! It may take a few days…there’s a lot. In the mean time, you can read mine.

6. Look for Summer shows

Freeform (Previously ABC Family) and USA are just two networks that play new episodes (and new seasons) of shows during the summer. Adam and Eddy have a new show, Dead of Summer, coming to Freeform June 28, 2016! We should all show our favorite writers some love and check it out!

featured-dead-of-summer

Also, If you’ve been living under a rock–Pretty Little Liars returns with Season 7– June 21, 2016. (You can watch previous seasons on Netflix or Hulu.)

Which brings me to my next point…

5. Netflix–Binge. Game. Strong.

Netflix has SO MANY great shows. Original series as well! May I suggest Orange is the New Black or Blood Lines…

unnamedOr Binge your favorite show all over again! *cough* ONCE… or maybe you’re also a Supernatural fan? That show has like 11 seasons on Netflix guys… it’s amazing.

4. Don’t have Netflix?

Check your local listings for reruns! Over summer many stations don’t have a ton of new shows. So guess what? They replay all those wonderful episodes in order. Yup, get your Gilmore Girls binge on without Netflix Folks! (If you haven’t seen Gilmore Girls, you’re doing it wrong!)

3. Make fan editstumblr_o6ytvdYBOp1vu90u6o1_1280

I know on Twitter I always love watching those vines or fan videos of my favorite tv couples. I have zero clue how to make them. But by the end of Summer, I hope to have that skill perfected.

I do like to dip my toe in photoshop now and again…It’s quite entertaining (and can get silly really quick.)

CS meets Ironman anyone?   ————->

Let’s compare. I’ll show you mine if you show me yours?

2. Re-Watch ALL media of your favorite Actors

You probably think i’m joking. I’m not. You know how much time I waste on Youtube watching Colin interviews/Bloopers/BTS videos? It’s amazing…or ridiculous, depending on how you view it. Either way, one minute its 6pm on a Monday night, and the next minute it’s 3am Friday.

1. Captain Swan Kisses

That’s right. By now I am sure you have all seen the glorious video a fan made that compiles all the CS kiss scenes. And i’m talking like 43 minutes long.

That’s an entire episodes worth.

5x23

Please– sit back, relax, and enjoy.

A Father’s Labour of Love:Emma & Charming

Today’s one shot is about Charming and Emma!

“Why couldn’t you have bough a desk already built?” Charming fumbles with the parts of the cherry oak desk Emma bought at a store in the city. She found it in a catalogue and knew she had to have it. Killian surprised her by ordering it through the mail and picking it up at the town closest to Storybrooke. A town that actually received mail from the real world.

Emma scans through the directions again. “Because that would be no fun.”

“Then why couldn’t Hook have helped?” Charming complains as he grabs the hammer.

“Oh I don’t know,” Emma crosses her arms across her chest. “Maybe because he only has one hand.”

Charming glares over at his daughter. Just because she know has a boyfriend doesn’t mean that she doesn’t need him. In  a way, it makes him thankful that she still does need her dad. Missing out on 28 years of her life, putting together a desk is the least he could do. Of course him missing out on her life wasn’t his fault. The blame all goes to Regina. Or more likely the Evil Queen. But that’s a discussion for another time.

Emma gets off from the floor, dusting off her shorts. “I’ll go see if Killian might be of some assistance. Can’t guarantee anything though. You know Killian and modern day things. Plus, he’ll probably complain that he only has one hand.”

Charming continues putting, or trying to put, together the desk while Emma fetches Killian from the garage. He’s trying to clean out the garage with Henry. Now that Henry is a teenager, Emma’s starting to give him bigger responsibilities around the house. Although, he spends most of his time at Regina’s house. She’s been taking Robin’s death hard, and she needs to be with others. Her son is the only one who will keep her from going dark again.

Killian comes into the house with Emma in tow. He takes in the sight of Charming sprawled out on the floor. Raising an amused eyebrow, he smirks over at Emma. “Aye mate, I’ve come to rescue you.”

“I don’t need a pirate to rescue me,” Charming mumbles, inspecting the piece in his hand.

“And here I thought you both made amends and are now mates,” Emma rests her hand against her stomach. “Ow.”

Killian’s at her side at once, putting his hand over hers’. “What is it, love?”

She shakes her head. “Probably nothing. Just a random stomach cramp.”

Charming takes in the sight of his distressed daughter and his mate. He sets down the piece he’s holding. “Snow had those pains when she was pregnant with Neal.”

Killian’s eyes nearly bug out of his head. “She’s not pregnant.”

“Of course I’m not pregnant!” Emma snaps at both men. “Now, can you both figure out this desk please? I’ll get you something to drink.”

Killian catches Emma by her forearm with his hook. “Swan, are you sure you’re not…?”

Charming stands beside Killian, a protective look on his face. “Seriously, Emma, you should go to the doctor.”

“Stop acting like I’m a  little girl. I think I would know if I was pregnant.”

“Mom…?” Henry walks into the living room covered in webs. The garage was in worse shape than anyone thought. Being in the Underworld all that time didn’t exactly help the cleaning of the house. The dwarves were supposed to make sure everything was in keeping, but obviously it got lost in translation.

Charming drags a hand down his face, watching his daughter’s face. She looks worried.

Emma throws her hands in the air. “Go outside, Henry.  I just have a stomach ache is all.”

She retreats into the kitchen while the two men stare at the pieces of the desk on the ground. No progress has been made in the last half an hour. Charming is ready to give up and see if one of the dwarves knows how to put it together. They’re handy with axes; they should be able to put together a measly desk. Then again, so should he. Killian scratches his temple with his hand, staring at the manual as if it’s in another language.

“This is quite the contraption.”

“Hook, I think Emma’s not telling you something.” Charming gives him a stern expression.

Killian glances at the entry way to make sure Emma isn’t around. “You think that…she’s pregnant?”

Charming nods his head. “Even though Zalena cast that curse to make us forget about that year, I know Snow wasn’t always well.”

“Why would she bloody keep this from me?”

“Maybe you need to talk to her. In private.”

Emma walks back into the room with a weak smile on her face. “I need to go to the store to get some more drinks, but we had some lemonade left.”

“Let me go, love. Your father and you should finish this. We need to talk later.” Killian kisses Emma’s cheek lightly before leaving the house.

She claps her hands together. “I’m assuming he was no help.”

“Listen,” Charming gestures for Emma to sit down on the couch. “Is there something you need to talk to someone about? Maybe your mother?”

“Dad, it’s nothing. If it was something, I would tell everyone.” Emma brushes her blonde hair out of her face. It’s getting longer, and now that summer is upon Storybrooke, she needs to get some of it cut.

He puts his arm around his daughter. “Just know that if you ever have news of any kind-”

She cuts him off. “You’ll be the first one to know. Now, let’s get this thing together so we can put it in Henry’s room. With him being the author now, I think he deserves an official author desk.”

“Good thinking,” he laughs, getting back to work.

Emma smiles at her father. “Oh and Dad?”

He raises his head to look up at her. “Yes?”

“Thank you,” she retreats out of the room so she doesn’t start crying in front of her father. There is a secret that she’s hiding from him. But she wants Killian to be the first to know. And telling him in front of her dad isn’t the best time to tell him the news. She rests her hand against her stomach. She may be only two months in, but she can already tell that the baby is starting to take shape. Doctor Wale told her she would be able to find out the sex of the baby in a few weeks. This pregnancy is a lot different than we she was pregnant with Henry. She was alone then, but she’s no longer a lost girl.

For one, she has a man who loves her and won’t abandon her. Plus, her whole family is with her now. She’s ready to raise this baby; there’s no doubt about that. She examines the engagement ring on her hand. When Killian bought it for her, after she proposed to him, she was overcome with so much happiness. She would have never imagined she would fall in love with a reformed villain and pirate. But her life was anything but normal. She knew Killian would be ecstatic when she told him the news. Who cares if she might not be able to fit into her dream wedding dress? The only thing that matters is that Killian and her are promised a forever. They almost weren’t.

She leans against the door frame to the living room where her dad sits putting together the desk. He’s made some progress with it. A smile touches her lips. He’ll be so happy to find out he’ll have another grandchild to spoil. But first, Killian needs to know the truth.

Hook and Emma One Shot Story

I have fallen into the trap that is fanfiction. Can you believe up until 3 days ago that I never read fanfiction before? I mean, I have been in fandoms for a few years now. Anyway, I have been reading some fanfics (no, not smutty ones…) and I wanted to start doing my own fanfics on this blog. My plan is to find a picture from the show and write a short story about once or twice a week, as time permits. As the fandoms call it: a one shot. I will start with a picture of Emma and Hook because come on, who doesn’t love them? Maybe don’t answer that. And because I love the hashtag ‘Domestic Killian’ on Twitter, I’ll center it on that. Here it goes! (comments are appreciated and encouraged, but don’t be too hard, I’m new at this)

“What is it, Swan? I haven’t seen you this dapper in a while.” Killian leans against the doorway, observing Emma who sits on the couch, staring at the wall.

Emma glances over at Killian, swiping a tear from her eye. “It’s nothing.”

Killian wags his finger at her. “I know that look more than anything. Something is wrong; trust me, love.”

She regards him warily as he sits down beside her. His arm snakes around her neck and she rests her head against his shoulder. He smells like the ocean; he must have been sailing today. He likes to go out there at least once a week. He misses the sea and she feels like she might be holding him back. Killian was a pirate after all; he has to be missing the carefree days when he used to sail on the Jolly Roger.

“Do you miss it?” Emma lifts her head from his should to look at her pirate. “The sea, the pirates’ life. Do you miss it?”

Killian pauses before he begins speaking. “Of course, love, but I wouldn’t trade that life for this one. Emma,” he grasps her chin in his hands. “You are my future.”

She lets a small smile peak. “Good because I was thinking…”

He raises an eyebrow at him. “Ah. Must be something good if you’ve been thinking.”

“I think so,” she pauses a beat, a smile plastered across her face, replacing the frown. “I want to start our adventure. Killian, will you marry me?”

His eyebrows shoot up at her question. “I’m supposed to be the one asking you that.”

“Right, I forgot you were like three hundred.”

Killian rolls his eyes. “We’ve been over this before. Neverland and curses, blah blah. But to answer your question, I will marry you.”

Emma reaches over to kiss him passionately. “But you better be the one to buy me an engagement ring.”
